Trading Pictures contracts staff as required, keeping client costs down and ensuring the right people work on the right job. As a limited company (registered in 1999) Trading Pictures holds the contract with the client.
John Thirlwell
Producer / Director
John trained as a journalist working on national newspapers. Moved to Leeds (1980) and trained as a TV reporter with BBC 'Look North'. He went on to cover stories for BBC News, ITV and Channel 4 nationally and internationally. Filmed in Sri Lanka for BBC 2 programme on charity ITDG, winning Silver Medal in Commonwealth Broadcast Awards. Over the last twenty years, John has produced / directed network documentaries (ITV1 Network First, C4 Fair Game, BBC2 Popular History, BBC4), Series Producer 'History Fix' 30 minute shows for BBC4 (Screenhouse Productions). Has directed celebrity presenters, including Adam Hart-Davis, Rory McGrath, Greg Dyke and Brian Cox. Recently filmed refugees newly arrived in Britain, and also pilot for literary investigation. Passionate film-maker, with a strong commitment to social justice. His recent broadcast work involved filming undercover in Morocco, Malta and Romania for ITV1. In 2013, he has written and directed a landmark film for the National Museum of Scotland on Mary Queen of Scots, in conjunction with Tigershark Productions.
Jane Estevez
Producer
BBC trained, Jane began by working on a variety of programmes including live news, gardening and feature shows, documentaries and drama productions. Production Manager on the 'Royal Armouries project when it moved to Leeds. Filming experience ranges from social action, to documentary interviewing, location research, and studio direction. Her experience includes several years as guest 'tutor' on three media courses : Leeds University, (BA in Broadcasting), Bradford University, (BA in Multi Media), York University, (BA in Media). Project management, knowledge of international rights and consents, together with rigorous cost-control skills make Jane an invaluable member of any production team. Her recent credits incllude: Producer on 'Misconnect' a film drama made for Bradford International Film Festival, and location / casting producer for 'Jack Armstrong Investigates..' a film noir detective short for a corporate client who wanted to bring an imaginative and arresting style to an internal training film.
Graham Barnes
Principal Cameraman
Graham is a freelance cameraman who has worked for the BBC, Channel 4, ITV and C5. His credits include, 'Blue Peter', 'Panorama', 'Holiday Programme', 'Animal Hospital', 'Teen Angels & Little Angels', 'Who Rules the Roost?' and, most recently, 'The Jeremy Kyle Show'. Graham has also worked for Trading Pictures over many years, working on corporate projects and broadcast projects.
Andy Dunderdale
Editor / Post Production Manager
Andy has worked with Trading Pictures for more than fifteen years. He has experience in the authoring and production of DVD and interactive CD-ROM material as well as producing for web-based distribution. He has worked on projects for 'Learn Direct' and BBC 'Learning Zone' as well as a number of local authorities and public bodies including METRO and Yorkshire Water. He is currently heading up the new media training division and has recently devised a masterclass in Motion, Apple's FX tool. He is experienced in DVD design, all the Adobe Premiere platforms, and has lead camera credit on a number of TV commercials.
Stewart Campbell
Animator, Graphic Designer, Composer
Stewart is an experienced contributor to all aspects of the multimedia business including 3D animation, motion graphics and effects. Stewart has worked on 'Holidays from Hell' and a wide variety of corporate projects. His recent work with The National Museum of Scotland involved him creating three AV displays for their galleries. Stewart created three distinctive productions by using archive images/footage and modern compositing techniques along with 3D animation and motion graphics. As an accomplished musician, Stewart writes and performs music for a range of corporate and non-broadcast productions.
Emily Evans-Thirlwell
Assistant Producer. Emily has worked with several major production companies, these include Working Title Films, Sky Sports News, and also Screenhouse, Syco, Darlow Smithson, Mentorn, Renegade Films, and currently October Films (new series to have UK transmission in 2014). Working with Trading Pictures, Emily has researched and scheduled shoots, filmed with Z1, CF305, and Go-Pro cameras on location, and edited on Final Cut. At Darlow Smithson Productions Emily spent time working on C4's 'What the Green Movement Got Wrong' and also as assistant to the director on location in New York for a US drama documentary about 9/11. Her current work involves location manager, AP on a new drama-documentary series (Eurpoean shooting) for Discovery in the US.
